It’s tough for any former president to match the cool factor of Barack Obama. On Oct. 22, the 63-year-old Democrat took to the stage at a Detroit rally in support of Vice President Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, rapping a few lines from Eminem’s iconic hit “Lose Yourself.” The viral moment came right after he was introduced by the rapper himself.
“I gotta say, I’ve done a lot of rallies. So, I don’t usually get nervous, but I was feeling some kind of way following Eminem,” Obama said when he arrived at the podium, according to an Instagram clip shared by MSNBC on Tuesday. With precision and charm, the Democrat began reciting the intro to the Grammy award-winning tune, noting that his “palms” were “sweaty.”

He followed up with the second verse, rapping, “Knees weak/ Arms are heavy, vomit on my sweater already/ Mom’s spaghetti/ I’m nervous but on the surface, I’m calm already.”
The former president’s effortless flow and delivery received a standing ovation from the crowd. As the cheers died down, Obama joked, “I thought Eminem was going to be performing and I was going to jump out.”
Social media users couldn’t get enough of the fun moment.
“He’s so fkking cool I can barely take it!!!” wrote one user in the comments section of the post.
“I LOVE this man!!!! My forever president!! His swag is unmatched,” another fan added.
A third netizen penned that they could see why former president Trump used to “hate” on Obama due to his calm, cool and collected demeanor. “Lol He’s EVERYTHING they’re not. He’s genuinely such a cool guy who can relate to all races of people!” the user added.

Before the politician took center stage, Eminem urged the crowd to “get out and vote” for Harris in the upcoming Nov. 5 election. Michigan is one of seven crucial swing states that are vital for the 60-year-old Democrat’s chances of winning the White House. Swing states are those that could be won by either major party in an election, making them pivotal battlegrounds where candidates focus their efforts to sway voters.
“I’m here tonight for a couple of reasons. As most of you know, the city of Detroit and my home state of Michigan mean a lot to me,” Eminem told the audience. “Going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever and I think it’s important to use your voice. So, I’m encouraging everyone to get out and vote please.”
The hip-hop star added, “I also think that people shouldn’t be afraid to express their opinions, and I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution or what people would do if you make your opinion known. I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country, where this freedom and many others will be protected and upheld.”
