Becoming a wig girlie wasn’t on my 2024 Bingo card, but thanks to VSHOW Hair’s glueless V part wigs, I discovered a new protective style for the winter. I was headed to Barbados for my 41st birthday to attend a wedding, and I needed a low-maintenance style that would accommodate the humid weather while giving me a fun look for my special day.
During a complimentary hair session at the Ursula Stephens Salon, my stylist discovered a growing bald spot. You can read more about it here. Since then, I’ve been strategic with my protective styles. We all know how important hair is to Black women, and I am no different. Knowing that I had a bald spot, I was limited in what I could do to my hair. I didn’t want to get braids; I was too scared to do crochet, so a wig felt like the next best thing. I needed something easy to install, manipulate, and maintain, so I researched wigs that matched my texture, had high density, and allowed my hair to thrive under a cap.
Enter, VSHOW Hair. I came across their website and purchased a glueless V part kinky curly wig that claimed to be beginner friendly. I went for a 26 inch wig with 180% density. At the time of purchase, the website had a 20% off sale which brought the $258.99 price down to $207.20.

I took the wig to my stylist, Jasmine, who did a quick install for me. Instead of utilizing all of the clips from the wig, she removed the two in the front and sewed it down to keep it secure. We agreed that the clips felt tight and might cause tension, so she sewed it to ensure the wig would stay in place and not cause unnecessary tension.
The hair blended perfectly with mine, causing people to stop me in the streets to tell me they loved my curl pattern. “It’s a wig!” I would respond. I was shocked at how many people thought this was my natural hair, and I was obsessed with how full and bouncy the hair was.
The Pros:
- Because the wig was sewn on, I wasn’t worried about it shifting or coming off in the water.
- The hair boasts 180% density, which makes it appear extremely full.
- The wig blended perfectly with mine. I was worried that my leave out would become frizzy, thus showing the difference between my natural hair and the wig. When I mentioned that to the first person who complimented me on my curl pattern, they said it was all in my head.
- I love that I can keep my hair protected underneath the wig. Because my stylist only sewed the front, I can lift it up and add oil and minoxidil to my scalp to address my bald spots.
- The website frequently offers sales and perks. I rarely buy hair because brands usually gift them to me. I purchased this wig and appreciated receiving a discount just because. It made it easier for me to execute the purchase.
The Cons:
- There is light shedding whenever I refresh my curls by adding water and finger combing my hair. It’s not much, but it sheds a little each time I try to revamp my tresses.
Overall, I’m obsessed with my glueless V-part wig, and I think I will default to this style whenever I need to switch up look with a low-tension style. You can see their full selection here.
