Wicked has taken over the world. From the powerful soundtrack to the pink and green fashion, two powerhouse performers have been at the forefront of it. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo bring to life the iconic fictional characters Elphaba (the wicked witch) and Glinda (the good witch) in Jon M. Chu’s Wicked film. The cast and Hollywood’s top players assembled at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion where the Wicked premiere was held.
Wicked Premiere
Erivo and Grande arrived at the premiere in their own cars but were inseparable along the carpet; they posed in photos with one another and even conducted interviews together. All while holding hands and giving us whimsical fashion moments. They make a charming duo, as seen in the adventurous Wicked trailer.
All of which makes sense when they’re real-life friends. “We can consult with each other and talk with each other through all of this,” Erivo explained to Vogue about their friendship. “And that we can do basic best friend things like turning up and looking at our outfits, and realizing that we’re in sync and realizing that the friendship runs deeper than we ever knew.”
The ladies have been going viral for their emotional press tour interviews, including this really dramatic reaction to an interviewer’s personal experience.. “My girlfriend, she took her two little girls — 5 and 7 years old — and I’ve written down what they’ve said,” she revealed to Cynthia and Ariana who then grabbed hands to prepare for the moment. “You have to be good and you have to be kind to everybody,” which elicited Ariana to respond, “Whoa.” The tears began to flow for Cynthia as the story continued. “And she is a good Witch.” the reporter said finishing the anecdote.

Cynthia Erivo wore a green latex Louis Vuitton look with a fringe cape and jewels fit for a queen.

She continued, “My stylist Jason had an idea about asking Louis Vuitton about vinyl, which normally isn’t the first go-to when it comes to a carpet,” she says. “I thought the fabric choice was strong and divine, which is how I see my character. We’ve also worked with LV on a vinyl look before that created a wow factor, so I guess we wanted to try our hand at that again and see what the reaction would be this time.”
