House of GRO's Rejuvenating Daytime Oil

Honestly, I’ve never been too fond of face oils until utilizing the House of Gro’s At Dawn Rejuvenating Daytime Oil. Like many beauty mavens, I’ve found that many formulations tend to leave behind a slick, greasy film on my canvas — despite using less than three drops. As a result, I’ve looked like an overgreased child. However, House of Gro’s innovation was a refreshing change of pace for my normal skin.

Formulated with a mix of certified organic oils, essential oils, and the superstar ingredient Chaga (mushroom), this offering is in a league of its own. Aside from its promise to envelope skin with hydration, this formula revives your canvas and gives your skin a luminous finish.

With fears of breaking down products and incorrect application, it’s understandable why some folks avoid face oils. However, Charlotte- and NYC-based esthetician Essence Moore shares that there is nothing to worry about if the product is applied correctly.

“[Face oils] may cause pilling if applied too closely together,” Essence exclusively tells HelloBeautiful. “I recommend waiting about 10 minutes or so in between the steps to give your skin time to absorb the face oil. This will help to make sure it’s not interfering with your sunscreen.”

In addition, she shares that beauty mavens with dry skin concerns can use face oil daily. However, it’s essential to thoroughly cleanse your skin and maintain your weekly exfoliation to prevent congestion.”

After learning about the benefits of House of Gro’s face oil, I tested it to see if the hype was real. I started my skincare routine by cleansing with Buttah Skin’s Gentle Cleanser ($17, Buttahskin.com). I followed up with Mario Badescu’s Glow Toner ($18, Mariobadescu.com). Next, I applied the Urban Skin Rx Even Tone Super Glow Serum ($24, Urbanskinrx.com). Then, I layered on the Ghost Democracy Clean Lightweight Daily Moisturizer ($30, ghostdemocracy.com).

Now, it was time for the face oil. As directed, I warmed up two to three drops in my palms and lightly pressed the product into my skin. I loved how the formula immediately melted into my skin and left my canvas with a luminous appearance. After waiting 10 minutes, I applied the Skinceuticals Clear Daily Soothing UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50 ($54, Skinceuticals.com) to seal the deal.

Although its $160 price tag may scare some folks off, it’s an investment you can be proud of. After all, just a few drops are all you need to elevate your skincare game. That said, you can expect this offering to go the distance. If you’ve lost hope with adding face oils to your routine, it may be time to try this formula. Trust me, your skin will thank you.
